Digital Surrealism 

 Surrealism is not defined by the medium the work is created in. Surreal art, whether it be paintings, drawings, collages, sculpture, is surrealism. It is the improbability of the juxtapositions that defines the work as surreal. 

This online exhibition is of the surrealist works created digitally by surrealist artist Demetrios Vakras. The images on this site, with the exception of the computer generated images, are photomontages based on Vakras' photography, with many of the photographs used having been reference material previously used for his drawings and paintings before a computer was purchased.

Note 1: some of the artwork is deliberately "explicit" and may elicit offence. 

Note 2:  AI does not create art. There is no such thing as “AI surrealism” and it is not “digital surrealism”. AI “juxtapositions” are pre-programmed and not the product of any innate creativity. AI is totally reliant on the theft of artists’ creative output without imparting any creativity of its own.
